The Victorians
This term our class decided they wanted to learn about Queen Victoria and life in Victorian Times. We wrote about Victoria's life as a young princess.
Princess Victoria
Princess Victoria came to the throne at the age of 18. She was born on 24th May 1819 at Kensington Palace in London. She was not christened as Victoria, she was christened Alexandrina Victoria. She was part of a German family mainly called "George."
The first language she learnt was German. At the age of three she learnt to speak English and French and later on she learnt to speak Hindustani.
One of her toys was a rocking horse that had real horse hairs on it. Princess Victoria never went to school, instead she had a governess who came to the palace to teach her.
The date she came to the throne was 20th June 1837 and her Coronation was a year later on 28th June 1838.
